The O16 took a deserved win in Saturday's away match against FC Twente in the closing stages to consolidate their leading position.

In the lackluster first half, PSV showed too little initiative against Twente, which mainly gambled on the counter. Already in the 2nd minute, a quick switch by Twente and insufficient focus by PSV led to the first serious chance of the match, but in the 1-1 situation that arose, Youri, who was injured in the bus but was able to start the match anyway, threw himself fully for the ball and saved PSV with an excellent save for a very early deficit. Although Twente also came through dangerously in the 23rd minute with a counter which again was defused excellently by Youri, the best scoring chances in the 1st half were for PSV. Striker Joel in particular had two excellent opportunities but lacked sharpness in finishing. In the 11th minute, Leandro placed a corner from the left precisely on the head of the incoming striker, but the striker headed the ball rock hard back in the same direction. A few minutes later, the striker miraculously worked the ball close to goal via a Twente leg past the wrong side of the post.

The 2nd half showed a better PSV. Without the injured Robin, who had to miss a trip to Portugal with the Dutch national team, PSV created a number of good chances of which 2 were eventually converted. The best one was for Justin, who in the 66th minute headed in a good cross from Sekou half-volley but straight into the goalkeeper's hands. 5 minutes later, the goal did come. After a handsball in a messy situation on the edge of the Twente penalty area was left unpunished by the referee, the ball fell in the 16 for the feet of Leandro who shot the ball dry and low into the short left corner. 2 minutes before time the weekly Joel moment arrived. After a good preparatory action by Bobby on the left Joel could calmly work his cross into the net and after a better second half the final score was 0-2.

Next week there is no league program because of carnival...On 21 February the O16 will play the away game against Feyenoord.
