Match report:
PSV made the game against NAC from the start and also got most and best goal chances. NAC on the other hand lurked emphatically on the counter and also on mistakes by PSV. Just before half-time NAC almost punished such a mistake by PSV, but the PSV goalkeeper prevented a (unjustified) deficit with a sublime save.
After halftime, the picture was much the same. PSV played mostly in the opponent's half, NAC waited patiently despite the many offside situations. However, PSV came closer and closer to/before the NAC goal. A PSV goal therefore hung in the air. In the 46th minute the deserved and liberating goal for PSV fell after a flashy attack on the left side. PSV could have decided the match several times after that, but missed just as many times and were lucky that the only chance given away in the second half was not successfully completed by NAC. After a nice lob the ball fell on the right side for PSV and thus wide of the goal. All in all a deserved, but hard-fought victory for the men of PSV D1.
Next Thursday 11-10-2012 the home match of Saturday 13-10-2012 will be played ahead against MVV, the current leader. With a win, PSV can also immediately take over the lead from MVV.
I wish my team - and of course the staff - the best of luck against MVV. Unfortunately, I will not be present next Thursday.
