The away game against Feyenoord. Always difficult and fraught. And certainly now because both teams desperately need the points to reach the championship pool.
The weather is not too good either. In the first half, the game goes up and down but there are no really big chances for either team. There is intent and it cannot be said that they are not working hard. Effort and experience is there too.
Just those little chances. In the second half the same picture. Lots of hard work but little surprise and ingenuity. From both sides.
A typical 0-0 match. So on to the end of it. In the 90th minute there is a deep ball from Feyenoord and Mike comes out well and intercepts the ball but the referee has seen it which is not acceptable. Whistle.
He walks to the box and points to the spot. There would have been a hold. From the bench this was not observed but we do not have the best position to see this. The number 10 of Feyenoord lays the ball ready and leaves Mike hopeless.
We did try to force something in injury time but alas. Hard work but no reward in the form of a point. The result is that we slowly sink in the rankings.
The down-to-earth fact is that we still have six finals to play and we will have to win all six to reach our target.
So men, put your shoulders to the wheel and with the same commitment as today, the results will come.
We can let loose all the clichés: there are no peaks without troughs, the darkest hour only has 60 minutes etc. but we have to pick up the positive points from this match and continue with that and then it will be good I am sure.
First we have a weekend at home and then we will pick up the thread and go for it.
And we know: Success comes when you do the things you believe in.
Good luck guys.
Goodbye.
