Convincing start for PSV O15
On this first Saturday, the first league game was scheduled. And that, thanks to the corona outbreak, was long overdue. Today's opponent at PSV Campus De Herdgang was Vitesse. The Arnheimers won convincingly last week for the cup at DHC with 0-6. PSV itself played Quick Boys off the mat and sent the Katwijkers back home 12-0.
PSV started brightly and had an immediate great chance within the minute. But Onesime Zimuangana 's final pass to Wessel Kuhn was just off the mark. The opening goal came two minutes later. Sami Bouhoudane put pressure on the Vitesse goalkeeper, who wasted the ball. Onesime picked up the ball and enabled Sami to score the 1-0. PSV remained the better team after the quick opening goal and put early pressure every time. After Floris Bos headed a corner from Nicolas Verkooijen onto the post, Sven van de Plas increased the lead in the 19th minute. He literally rose above everyone and headed in a corner from Raf van de Riet. Vitesse lurked on the counter and was dangerous once midway through the first half. However, it was mainly PSV that dictated. Miraculously the Vitesse goalkeeper prevented a third Eindhoven goal with the help of the post when Wessel finished after a good move by Raf. A minute later it did hit the mark and the roles were reversed. Wessel reached Raf with a high ball who took the ball, tapped it over his opponent and then shot the ball diagonally hard and high. What a beautiful goal!
After halftime, PSV continued to look for more goals. Onesime soon had a great chance to grab it, but the goalkeeper was able to make a save. It was Peter Quispel who in the 52nd minute expressed the difference in strength in a goal. He got the ball at his feet by a Vitesse player and with a half-turn he shot the ball with a strange curve over the goalkeeper. The level dropped for a while after that, but Onesime did manage to score the fifth goal in the 63rd minute by bypassing the goalkeeper and easily sliding the ball in. With a few minutes left to play, Vitesse was able to save the honor after the referee allowed a player, on the edge of offside, to go ahead and beat Niek Janssen. Because Samuel Gomez van Hoogen missed a great opportunity in the closing stages, the game ended in a big victory for the O15. With, especially in the first half, excellent football, they left Vitesse without a chance and started the competition in a convincing manner. Next week follows the away match against Ajax.
