Unnecessary defeat for PSV O14
Last Saturday there was an immediate nice affair to start the league for the O14. An away game to the beautiful new complex of Feyenoord. What more could a footballer want? And then also get to play on the main field, great to be busy again.
In the first half, PSV O14 showed they could play football very well. Against a physically much stronger Feijenoord, this was demanded, because physical football is not enough in Rotterdam. But as said, PSV's play was high quality, the problem was getting through the defense of the Rotterdammers. Up to twenty yards or so in front of goal, PSV was the superior side, but they didn't get any further than that. Although PSV did manage to score in the 27thminute, but unfortunately this goal was disallowed due to offside. And of course PSV had to watch out that Feyenoord could not get out of it quickly, but PSV solved this problem well. So it was a game of sixteen to sixteen, without really big chances.
Then, four minutes after halftime, Feyenoord managed to score, this goal entirely due to the PSV defense. A faulty pass allowed the Feyenoord striker to intercept the ball easily and make his way towards goal. PSV goalkeeper Stijn Kuijsten managed to save at first, but in the rebound it was a goal after all. Two minutes after this goal another error at the back of PSV, and again Feyenoord managed to score. 2-0. PSV continued to play well, but just like in the first half, were unable to get through the Feyenoord defense. In the 60th minute PSV were allowed to take a corner, the ball was lost by PSV and from the turnaround, Feyenoord managed to score. Surely this goal could have been prevented if someone had intervened along the way. But it was made too easy for Feyenoord.
So loss for PSV, but again some points that coach Mourad El Idrissi can move forward with. And mistakes have to be made to learn from them. So a week of good training, and next week in the home game against Ajax show that they have learned something.
