  1. Match report

    champion!
Today, May 5, Liberation Day, should reveal whether it will also be a liberation for PSV D2 in the battle for the championship in the 2nd Division C. On April 14, flowers had already been ordered for the first time for the home match against JVOZ. Despite PSV's win, direct rival Baronie did not want to cooperate, as they also won their match. Then it should have happened in the home game against UNA. This time PSV did not depend on anyone, but had to turn the match into a win. In a game where PSV gave nothing away defensively, but where the created chances unfortunately were not converted into a goal, it remained 0-0. As a result, flowers, champagne and cake could be put away again. So today it has to happen. A draw is enough for PSV to win the championship. But you also want to win a championship game. In the opening phase of the match, there is a slight field advantage for Den Bosch without them becoming dangerous. PSV speculates on speed up front and deals out a few pinpricks. However, it takes fifteen minutes before PSV takes the lead. A corner kick by Remco is headed in by Yassin. PSV at a 1-0 lead and many can start looking calmer now that the goal has been scored. PSV has only had to take 15 goals so far, an average of less than one per game. In principle, then, the spoils should be as good as in. When Yassin gives PSV a 2-0 lead five minutes before halftime, the decision seems to have been made. In the second half, PSV clearly took control of the game and Den Bosch was forced back into their own half. PSV shows excellent positional play and the Bosch players are sent from pillar to post. Yet Den Bosch comes back in the game. From a corner kick, a Den Bosch player is free to head in, making it 2-1. PSV seems unimpressed, because within 5 minutes the margin is again 2 when Bryan scores the 3-1. Not much later a nice PSV attack via the right side over several drives. In the end it is Davy who scores the 4-1. For a moment the concentration is gone and a Den Bosch player slips through the net and can score the 4-2. Can Den Bosch make another push and come back? The answer is no, Tijn makes 5 minutes before time the 5-2 and the championship is within. Then the referee's final signal and then hopping players on the center spot wondering where the party is. The boys receive a medal and congratulations from the PSV youth board with a bunch of flowers. When the champagne is handed out, the familiar scenes of trainers and leaders having to flee to avoid getting covered in champagne take place. It took some time before the boys entered the canteen where a cake (the 2nd) was waiting for them. This one can now be eaten. Then back to Eindhoven where in "de Verlenging" fries are waiting for the boys and a beer for the parents. Congratulations on the championship and good luck in the two remaining tournaments.
