Ten minutes after halftime decisive for PSV A1
PSV A1 recorded a deserved 3-1 victory over FC Utrecht A1 on Saturday afternoon. In the first half both teams were still searching and only sporadic chances were created. Jeroen Zoet was forced into action when Dries Wuytens' ball went back towards goal. At the other end, there are a few small drop-outs involving Nigel Hasselbaink. Most striking is that trainer Roland Vroomans has to change his left back twice already in the first 45 minutes. Martijn Thomassen gets a nasty tap on his ankle and his replacement Ridny Cairo suffers an elbow and is replaced by Stefano Marzo after halftime.
In the second half, PSV has a fantastic start. After a few minutes, it is Jason Bourdouxhe who escapes the offside trap of the Utrecht defense. He keeps a good overview and passes the ball to Nigel Hasselbaink, who shoots well. Two minutes later it is again Hasselbaink who scores. He turned away from his defender and lobbed the ball over the goalkeeper. Soon after, Hasselbaink again turns away. This time Jasper Waalkens runs along well from midfield. He receives the ball at the level of the penalty spot and can easily slide the ball inside. Within ten minutes in the second half it is 3-0 and the match is played. In the closing stages of the match FC Utrecht does something back from a penalty kick, although goalkeeper Zoet went close. In the last minutes FC Utrecht hits the bar once more, but in the end the match ends in a deserved 3-1 victory for PSV. PSV A1 remains in seventh place in the league.
