Today, again, an opponent who was close in the rankings. So, with a win we could create a nice gap, and continue on the way up.
It was an even game, which was expected given the score, and there were some small chances for both teams that were not exploited.
Heerenveen was more dangerous in standard situations. But every time Nigel was at his post. Just before the break Peter went close to scoring a goal, but the quickly executed counter
went wide via the keeper. The corner after that did not yield anything either.
So the score at halftime was 0 - 0.
The second half presented the same picture as the first. There were some chances, but the goalkeepers kept the score zero.
In the 70th minute Heerenveen got a free kick about 18 meters before the goal.
After setting up the wall the no. 8 of Heerenveen managed to curl the ball into the top corner with a beautiful arc over the wall, unstoppable for Nigel.
It remained a game where the dangerous moments kept coming from free kicks and corners. In the 83rd minute the ball from a throw-in by Jorn was not handled well and Gianluca was in the right place to tap the ball into the goal.
All in all, this was a fair result for both teams and both trainers could live with a draw.
It was a pity that this match was played on a bad main field.
We wish everyone a nice carnival weekend.
