    The report

After two consecutive defeats (Ajax at home and Feyenoord away respectively), PSV's O15 went to Rotterdam again. The match against Sparta was on the program this weekend. Where Sparta played in the (sub)top in recent years with the O15, the Rotterdam team was in a modest 10th place after seven rounds. Could PSV cross the Maas with the points this time?

In the first half, there was little to enjoy on the pitch. Little happened before the goals. PSV had the best opportunities, but there were no real chances.

In the second half, fortunately, more happened. And especially from the PSV side. But striker Milan van de Riet had little luck in finishing today. First, just after halftime he failed to hit a Dylan Hopman cross full on. And then he shot just over in a promising position with his left, and after a fine cross from Mohamed Nassoh he pounced on the outgoing goalkeeper. In the 55th minute Milan seemed to be on his way to the opening goal when Martijn Zuijderwijk put him well in front of the goalkeeper, Milan beat the goalkeeper but was whistled offside. A minute later, PSV got away well when a return ball bumped over the foot of goalkeeper Aron van Lare but fortunately went just wide of the post.

After Milan again bumped into the Sparta goalkeeper, PSV mounted a beautiful attack after an hour of play. PSV cut through the Rotterdam defense with a couple of one-timers, but the goalkeeper eventually turned Milan's effort away. In the closing stages, Sparta threatened Aron's goal for the first time, but he saved skilfully with his foot. Just before time Sparta seemed to take the lead against the odds, but the goal was cancelled for offside.

Thus the match ended as it began: 0-0, with PSV selling themselves short the most given the odds. Next week the home game against FC Utrecht is on the schedule.

Setup: Aron van Lare (c); D'Leanu Arts, Jenson Seelt, Nawaaz Landfeld, Deveron Fonville (66' Jesse Giebels); Dylan Hopman (60' Cel Teunen), Mylian Jimenez, Dyon Dorenbosch; Martijn Zuijderwijk, Milan van de Riet, Jasper Huijzer (49' Mohamed Nassoh).
