O13 drags out victory

After two international tournaments, PSV O13 resumed the league with a win. At their own Herdgang, the Eindhoveners won 2-1 against Vitesse.

The first half began offensively from both sides, but PSV's first half opportunity was an immediate hit. After a deflected corner, Raf van de Riet received the ball. The left back's cross looked an easy target for the Vitesse goalkeeper, but he misjudged the ball. The ball rolled over the line agonizingly slowly, giving PSV a 1-0 lead. Ten minutes later, the Eindhoveners were able to cheer again. A deep ball from Wessel Kuhn reached Raf van de Riet, who found Eus Waayers with his cross. His header ended beyond the reach of the goalkeeper into the far corner. As both teams created few other opportunities, the score was 2-0 at halftime.

In the second half, PSV left the initiative to Vitesse. The Arnhemmers had a lot of ball possession and on moments when PSV had the ball, they gave it away too quickly. Five minutes before time, Vitesse's first opportunity was a direct hit. A free kick reached a free player, who headed unchallenged. In the very last second, PSV got away with it. The Vitesse striker got the ball and outmaneuvered the PSV goalkeeper. However, his attempt - in front of an empty goal - ended up wide of the goal.

Although the Eindhoven game was not good, the team took three important points. Next Tuesday, PSV O13 plays its next league match, when it visits FC Twente.
