The Report
Today a home game for PSV O13 against Willem II from Tilburg. On paper do, but experience shows that something special is released as soon as the Tilburgers come to play football in Eindhoven.
In the first half the game undulates back and forth, but the chances are for PSV. It is Ruben van Bommel who gets past his man time after time and manages to get to the back line. Usually he gets a good cross for the goal, but his teammates are either too late, just can't reach the ball or there is just a foot between them. The biggest chance is again after a cross from Ruben for Shijon Martina. But the ball is stopped by the goalkeeper. Willem II gets only one small chance in the first half, so PSV is doing well in the back. While a lead was deserved, they have to rest with a 0-0 score.
In the second half, the game was basically the same. However, the Tilburg coach intervened and Ruben got less space. Because of the high tempo, the spaces on the field are getting bigger and the play is less. PSV continues to hunt for a goal. Ruben's free kick was just over the goal. The resulting corner seems to yield a goal, but the Willem II defense managed to clear the ball just before the goal line. Whatever they try, the ball does not go in. Therefore the final score is 0-0.
Despite this disappointing result, still a windfall. Competitor Feyenoord lost today, so PSV is still one point behind. Next week is the topper between the nos. 1 and 2, PSV and Feyenoord and a gap of 12 points can be closed. Coach Tim Wolf will do everything possible to get the team ready for this match.
