PSV started the match sloppily and wrong choices were often made. However, Volendam could not take advantage of PSV's sloppy play. Despite the sloppy play in the early stages, PSV had several opportunities to score that, in the image of the match, were not taken advantage of. The first real opportunity to score came in the 18th minute. A Volendam player made hands just outside the penalty area and the free kick was shot in by Mohamed into the top left corner, 1-0. This lead did not yet give PSV the confidence that made them play better football. Nevertheless, ten minutes after the opening goal, PSV was able to double the lead. A deep ball from Mohamed over the Volendam defense brought Milan van de Riet only in front of the goalkeeper. In the far corner Milan shot the 2-0.

PSV started the second half strongly. After 15 seconds, PSV already had an excellent opportunity to extend the score. However, the Volendam goalie prevented a counter goal. Four minutes later it was again the Volendam goalie who prevented a goal, although this 'save' was a bit more fortunate. A peg by Mylian went over the back line via the underside of the crossbar and the keeper's back. In the 42nd minute Volendam had a good opportunity to score the tying goal. After wrongly defending PSV, a Volendam player came alone in front of Jules. Jules just managed to tap the ball away before the Volendam player could become dangerous. PSV continued to put Volendam under pressure, which resulted in the third goal in the 50th minute. At first, a PSV cross was deflected. The ball came to Mohamed who shot hard against the crossbar. The ball ended up in front of Mylian, who shot in, 3-0. The match was over. PSV continued to press and that resulted in many chances. In the 53rd minute a shot by Milan van de Riet was blocked. The resulting corner was headed just wide by Milan. Five minutes later, a shot by Gioele was turned into a corner by the Volendam goalie. The corner went wide without a PSV player tapping the ball in. In the 61st minute, Volendam did something back. The Volendam player's shot was only just turned into a corner by Jules. PSV then started the final offensive. In the 64th minute, Mohamed again hit the bar, but one minute later PSV managed to score. A cross from Gioele was tapped in by Jesper in the second instance. He brought the score to 4-0 and this was also the final score.
