PSV O13 takes three points at Spartaan'20

Early Saturday morning, PSV O13 recorded a victory. In Rotterdam, Spartaan'20's peers were swept aside 0-3. Although the result suggests otherwise, it was a tough match, something PSV could mainly blame themselves for.

From the first minute, it was clear what the field proportions would be. Spartaan'20 left the ball possession to PSV, which looked for an opening in the defense of the Rotterdammers. However, because PSV's pace was too slow and the Spartaan defense was well positioned, it did not succeed. In the 22nd minute, the Eindhoveners actually managed to become dangerous for the first time and this resulted in an immediate goal. A cross from Raf van de Riet was hand-checked by a Spartan defender, after which the referee pointed to the spot. Although Eus Waayers missed the penalty and his rebound also hit the crossbar, Samuel Gomez managed to get the 0-1 on the board in the third attempt. This was also the halftime score.

The game was no different in the second half. PSV had the ball and patiently searched for space in the Rotterdam defense, something that again only succeeded with difficulty. After fifteen minutes, this space was found: again Raf van de Riet was sent deep and his cross reached Nicolas Verkooijen. The Belgian did not think twice and shot the ball hard behind the goalkeeper, 0-2. After this goal Spartaan'20 started to take more risks and this immediately resulted in a good chance. A misunderstanding in the Eindhoven defense allowed the fast right-winger of the Rotterdammers to head towards goal. His attempt missed the mark and went high over. Just before time the score was 0-3 when Jayden Ettienne intercepted a short kick from the goalkeeper. With a good cross he sent Eus Waayers in the direction of the goal and the striker did not miss.

Despite having a difficult morning, PSV O13 did take the three points back to Eindhoven. Next week Hidde van Boven's team will play a home match. FC Utrecht will visit the Herdgang stadium.
