After a long summer vacation and a short preparation, today already the 1st league match for the boys of PSV U13. The only amateur club in the league, Spartaan '20 from Rotterdam is hosting PSV today. We know that De Spartaan has had a much longer preparation than PSV, so it could be a tough morning.
Within 30 seconds the 0-1 could have been on the scoreboard, Ruben was alone in front of the goalkeeper before he knew it himself, but by acting too quickly the ball went over. After this there was a lot of play in the midfield. Until the 8th minute when Seb sent a pass into the deep behind the De Spartaan defense, Ruben went after the ball at full speed and found himself alone in front of the goalkeeper. This time he stayed calm and controlled the ball and put it behind the De Spartaan goalkeeper, 0-1. PSV continued to play well, but were sometimes impressed by the physical play of the Rotterdammers. They did not go into the duels for the full 100% so De Spartaan won too many duels. After a short pass in the 19 minute a De Spartaan player managed to intercept the ball, Luc tried to save the ball with a slide but was too late, which allowed De Spartaan to score the equalizer. 1-1 After this a fascinating battle ensues with PSV the footballing team, De Spartaan playing the long ball. 1 minute before the halftime signal, Chahid could take a corner, but he did this badly and the ball was simply cleared and came to the feet of Chahid again, now he passed the ball well, right on the head of Jesper, who neatly nodded the ball inside, so PSV could rest with a lead.
In the break, coach Tim said that he wanted to get more control in the midfield, and be more approachable. In the 36 minute a very nice PSV attack, the ball is played deep to Jesper who controls the ball well and passes immediately to Sven on the side, who takes a shot and unfortunately the ball hits the bar, but this beautiful attack from the book deserved more. PSV came under considerable pressure after this, but Kjell was unbeatable today and stood in the way of a goal or two. In between, Milan gets another chance by getting a free kick at the far post, this too would have been a nice chance for a bigger lead and a bit more peace. Slowly PSV gets a grip on the game again, although in the 54 minute it looks like De Spartaan is going to equalize, but the ball goes back into the field via the crossbar, from the quick breakout the ball comes to Ruben, who at full speed only goes towards the goalkeeper. And again Ruben manages to score the ball in a controlled way and puts the 1-3 final score on the scoreboard. All in all a nice game, with a lot of opposition, but through a lot of work ethic, team spirit and good football a deserved victory. Next week no league football, but an international tournament in Grubbenvorst, with attractive opponents.
