After two weeks of training and as many practice games (1-3 win at AZ and 12-0 victory over OJC Rosmalen), today it was "for real". The cup game against Fc Dordrecht was on the program.
Right from the first whistle, PSV proved to be much stronger than the guests from Dordrecht. Striker Jayden Braaf seemed to score the opening goal in the 5th, but twice his effort was cleared off the goal line. It was waiting for the Eindhoven opening goal, as Fc Dordrecht was unable to get over the center line.
Not surprisingly, the 1-0 was put on the scoreboard in the 7th minute. ADO's Kees van Lindert pushed forward well and managed to reach Jayden. From close range he shot hard and high, so this time no Dordrecht player had a chance to clear the ball from the goal line: 1-0.
Barely a minute later, Jeremy Antonisse looked to be on his way to making it 2-0 when Jayden picked up the ball and laid it wide to Jeremy. Unfortunately, Jeremy was unable to finish. In the 10th minute, it was still 2-0. The roles were reversed this time: with a measured cross Jeremy now reached Jayden who headed in beautifully.
PSV dictated the game and played well-kept football. They created plenty of chances, but the Dordrecht goalie was able to do more than just fish the ball out of the net. The home team had the misfortune that the referee ruled differently in two situations.
In the 30th minute he had no choice but to put the ball on the penalty spot after Kees was tackled from behind inside the infamous lines. Jayden took care of the ball and where PSV is known to have trouble taking penalties, Jayden showed that it does not have to be so difficult. With great control he sent the goalkeeper into the wrong corner and slid the ball neatly into the other corner: 3-0 and a hat trick for Jayden.
Since left back Amin Doudah only hit the post after a solo, both teams went to the dressing rooms with a 3-0 score. A meager reflection of the difference in strength.
In the second half, the home team once again created quite a few chances. However, it "only" managed to find the net again in the 42nd minute. This time it was not Jayden, but Kees van Lindert who scored the 4-0 when the ball suddenly came to his feet and he shot from close range.
Jason Pigmans, who had just stepped in, was immediately threatening in the 48th minute, but his effort into the short corner was unsuccessful. The attack continued and the ball came to the feet of the other substitute, Jur Clabbers, who took a devastating shot. But unfortunately his shot was touched and the counter remained stuck at 4.
In the 54th minute the counter was pushed to 5. Jason again out-sprinted his opponent and laid the ball ready for Jur, who tapped it in at the far post.
In the final minutes PSV pushed the score even higher to 7-0. After first a Dordrecht player scored in his own goal, the final chord was for Jason, who came from FC Twente. He pulled in from the left and from the corner of the 16 meters he curled the ball fabulously into the far top corner. What a wonderful goal!!!
PSV won their first official game of the season. The result might have been even higher. But 7-0 is a result that stands. Moreover, the field play today was neat and good. That certainly offers perspective for next week. Then the league starts and we have a cracker on the agenda. Feyenoord will visit De Herdgang. It will be interesting to see how the strengths compare then.
