  1. Match report

Two more games and then the season is over. After a mediocre start to the season, a nice place in the final standings was definitely in sight. Only sometimes you have those days, and today was such a day. And we didn't start badly at all. The first ten minutes we were stronger and came dangerously in front of their goal, but unfortunately we were unable to score from the various corners we got. And then comes something about the team that cannot be explained. The Dutch language is full of expressions and proverbs and sayings, but today some of them applied to us. Falling through the ice (although it wasn't weather for that), falling through the basket (more common in korfball), not being able to pick up the thread, falling behind (more behind the opponent in our case) and a few others. We were on the brink today but we took a big step forward. After the chances from us, NAC did manage to deal with the chances offered to them.
In the fourteenth minute a free kick on the edge of the sixteen was shot hard and low into the corner. Seven minutes later a quick NAC breakaway and their number nine scored the 0 - 2. After half an hour, the same player can shoot in the 0 - 3 from a "justified" penalty. Finally half time.
The second half starts all over again. In the 47th minute NAC scores 0 - 4. Then there is some positive wind and Peter can score the 1 - 4 from an Elvio cross. But immediately afterwards their No. 9 popped the ball from a free kick into the top corner, 1 - 5. Still we can come back and Anthony and Jurgen score 2 - 5 and 3 - 5 from crosses by Gerson. And there could have been even more. This was one of those games where the score could have been 5 - 5 or 6 - 8 or whatever.
Too bad that third place is out of sight. And actually a bit strange that the NAC players at the end of the competition can bring things up that we don't see with our players. The number 9 of NAC must have thought he was alone in the world so much freedom he got today.Next week against ADO we will have to play from a completely different keg (this is another one), especially if ADO still has a chance to avoid relegation. We need to take points there to avoid the season going out like a night candle (the last one).
