This Sunday morning, OH Leuven, a home-grown Belgian team, is the opponent. OH Leuven is a Belgian 2nd class team, say with us the Jupiler league. This team had already secured big wins in their league and played creditably against Belgium's top teams Beerschot and Brugge. So from the start it is already clear that we are not dealing with a bad opponent here. Leuven starts brighter than PSV and immediately puts pressure with their fast attackers. PSV has most of the ball possession in this initial phase, but cannot yet put the forwards in position, so the initial phase mainly takes place on PSV half. After a minute at 10, the Leuven pressure has subsided a bit and PSV can play further forward and the first opportunities present themselves. After fifteen minutes it is Joop who, from the edge of the penalty area, brings PSV to a 1-0 lead by shooting the ball in over the little goalkeeper. PSV can now shift the game to the Leuven half and through Mo they take a 2-0 lead. Moments later, Arne seemed to decide the game with a 3rd goal after a nice pass from Benji. However, Leuven could do something back 5 minutes before half time by scoring 3-1. The second half started poorly. Leuven can no longer give the resistance of the first half, where they probably gave too much anyway. PSV combines too much through the middle, where the space is on the sides. After about 10 minutes this gets better and PSV definitely puts the match in their hands. The spaces get bigger and so there is more room to combine. First it is Davy who in combination with Joop shoots the 4-1 impeccably. Then it is Joop himself who scores the 5-1. In the meantime, there are a few more chances for Greg but he doesn't have his sights set straight today. Finally it is Tijn who, via a rush on the right side, leaves a few opponents standing and shoots the ball at goal. With the help of an opponent the ball disappears into the goal and the final score is 6-1.
