  1. Match report

    0'-20'
It was another good old Holland-Belgium match yesterday at the Herdgang.
After the previous blowout against Zulte Waregem ( 4-4 ), the supporters of the D3 thought they were now aware of the strength of Belgian football.
And what is the strength of Belgian football, the result comes first and this goes together with efficient no nonsense football.
No pinging, just solid in the duels and deep balls to the fast strikers. And this is written with respect, because Lierse is not a bad team, on the contrary....

And PSV will have known this, because after 2 minutes it was already 0-1.
The disruptive and hard working striker of Lierse recovered a ball and laid it back to the connecting midfielder.
Armando was able to hold on, but could not prevent the striker from pushing in a controlled shot from a chance-less Stan.

PSV can't create many chances in return. There were shots from Cody, Ruud and Luc, but each time without the real conviction to score.
Although the latter would really like to, because Luc was placed in the attack by trainer Colin because "Lukie" would like a life as a striker.
But, until then it didn't work out.

It was Lierse, who put the 0-2 on the board after 13 minutes. Again, the Lierse striker lingers on the center line and it is the overenthusiastic PSV players who then all join in
forward. When the striker is then launched, everyone is too late and his shot falls over a well-executed Stan onto the crossbar. A following midfielder
then has but for pushing in, and does so with great pleasure. 0-2.

Now PSV's answer does come. Ruud who goes into the depth well, takes out his defender and bangs on goal, sees his shot still kept out by the goalkeeper.
But Cody slammed the rebound mercilessly in. 1-2. And we supporters think, let's get on with it.
Alas, nothing could be further from the truth, Baggio still has to pull out all the stops to prevent the visitors from going further ahead. He does that in his Baggio style, fair and with a great tackle on the ball.

Once again 3 20-minute games were played. And the first 20 minutes PSV were individually stronger, technically better too, but Lierse were much more efficient.

    20'-40'
The second 20 minutes start again in a minor way. An emerging midfielder simply runs through the middle, admittedly evades a couple of defenders and comes face to face with Stan,
he narrows his goal well, but the midfielder still finds a hole next to Stan where the ball fits right in. 1-3.

PSV did not create any more real chances, it was always just not there.
That probably had to do with the organization of the visitors, because it was right there.

If the real will to win is missing.... But that's the difference in training, of course. Either you go for the result, a victory,
Or you choose technique and action, with the result (for now) as an afterthought. Although every footballer wants to win of course.

    40'-60'
on to the last 20 minutes.
Luc working hard in the striker gets another chance for a shot, but now the goalkeeper is in between. His rebound is blocked by a defender.
Armando shoots a free kick over and 1 minute later Jordan pops a free kick wide.
In the warm-up, all of them fly in under the crossbar. Where is the problem? Pressure guys ???? Of course not, just bad luck.
Just before time Arne intercepts a shot by the visitors and prevents the 1-4th score.

    1-3 is the final score.

The game was somewhat reminiscent of the previous game against RODA. Few real chances to score, and also few smooth combinations.
Yes boys, after the game against Schalke 04 we know that you are all brilliant footballers, so the supporters expect the same.
But of course as true supporters we all remain behind you, and the results that will follow in time. Cheer up and look forward to the next match !!!

    Good luck to you all.
