Sloppy O14 loses
At a rainy, windy sports park in Wijdewormer, PSV O14 had to face AZ O14 last Saturday. After seventy minutes, PSV could say it was the better team, but AZ kept the points in their own pockets. The Alkmaarers were much better with the chances, so after the match there was a 2-0 score on the scoreboard.
PSV started the match bright and well, which resulted in a great chance for Onesime Zimuangana in the 11th minute, when he was one-on-one with the AZ goalkeeper, but did not control the ball well and the AZ goalkeeper saved the ball. AZ did manage to score from the quick breakaway. PSV kept trying, but could not get dangerous. The football was not bad, but taking advantage of the chances is also an art. PSV was dangerous from a corner, but Bos' header went just over. The team kept playing too much across the axes, while it was much too busy there. The team went into halftime trailing 1-0, but given the way the game was going, there was not much to worry about.
In the second half basically the same picture as in the first half, PSV playing good football, but not really dangerous in front. AZ had the first chance of the second half in the 65th minute. The ball went just wide, but should have been a warning. A minute later, the ball went just past PSV goalkeeper Janssen. 2-0 with five minutes to go, then you could say the game was played.
So in short, PSV had left it to themselves on Saturday, but taking advantage of chances is also part of football. AZ, on the other hand, had made the most of the chances they did get. That was the difference today. Next week the O14 will play a friendly match against FC den Bosch, at 12:30 at PSV Campus De Herdgang.
Lineup PSV:
Janssen, Jansen, Bressers, Kuhn (44/Quispel), Van de Riet; Vermeulen, Bos, Verkooijen (52/ Ettiene); Waayers (64/ Bawuah), Zimuangana, Bouhoudane.
