  1. Match report

All week the phone was red hot and my mailbox flooded with questions about when the report of the game against Cortgene would be on the site. At PSV I understood that my fellow journalists Ank and Joel, the same thing had happened to them. They too were bombarded with questions (and complaints) about the absence of the PSV D2 report.

To all readers herewith our sincere apologies. Our readers need not worry, the cause was not a strike action or discord between the writers. No, the fact was simply that organizing is not the strong point of our three creative writers. And so it was that suddenly all three reporters were absent (without knowing it from each other...). Even then another parent could have stepped in and shown his/her talents but apparently no one dared to take on that big responsibility. As I understood, the game in Zeeland would have been worth a nice report. Fortunately, there were two beautiful photo reports that alleviated this lack.

The match of October 2: against RKTVC D1. The confidence beforehand was high. The team has been doing well throughout the competition: the ball is going around nicely, one nice goal after another and beautiful individual actions. Things are actually going rather easily, too easily according to certain critical followers. Are the boys getting enough resistance to keep pace with the top clubs in the west of the country? Satisfied we should not be quick - it is top sport - on the other hand a satisfied person is also worth something!

RKTVC is just below the middle but did manage a nice draw against Willem II. PSV starts as we expect attacking. Through the left side where Steven and Ruud set up nice combinations it leads to a shot by Cody that the keeper just manages to parry. From a free kick after fifteen minutes - the crowd is already getting a bit impatient - a beautiful goal when Cody scoops the ball flawlessly to Robin who lobs it over the goalkeeper.

The theory is that then the spell is broken and things will continue fairly quickly. RKTVC doesn't let that happen. RKTVC plays fun, attractive football and extremely athletic and also manages to stay in the game well. After a defensive error, RKTVC's striker even gets an open chance but impressed Pepijn, the ball goes wide.

PSV also gets chances again but still ... there is some nice combination today but it also looks a bit easy. Passes are not quite sharp, in front of goal many chances are wasted. The second goal did come when Hus played a beautiful individual piece and put Amar free in front of the goalkeeper. Hus showed excellent play today.

It is not over because again RKTVC is allowed to run through and score a connecting goal but the striker of our Tiel opponent is not cool to the goalkeeper. Outer post out. Well...and if those balls don't go in it won't work out for the sporting opponent. In the upcoming top games the D2 will have to start sharper, that's one thing for sure.

The match is then done anyway. Again nice over left with Ruud, through Amar to Justin 3-0. Robin a very nice fourth with a placed shot from distance and rest.

The second half is messier. At the back nothing is given away and that is fine. In midfield and in front, the PSV players get in each other's way a bit more, there is too much running with the ball and RKTVC is able to hold out well. With more commitment and discipline, a bigger result would definitely have been possible. Cody doesn't like that and still wants to score his goal today and he succeeds excellently with a nice overhead kick and then another one from distance.

Just after the whistle another brilliant overhead kick by Cody, which unfortunately doesn't make it into the books. Oh well, at least then the boys have something to talk about, says the relaxed referee. And that's just the way it is.
