The report
For the boys of PSV O19 another important match was scheduled on Saturday. After playing against FC Barcelona last Wednesday for the Youth League (1-1), they now kicked off in the far north at FC Groningen.
On a heavy and slippery pitch, it took some getting used to for the Brabanders. Groningen immediately put pressure on coach Van Nistelrooy's team. This made PSV sloppy in their passing. In the twelfth minute, PSV captured the ball in midfield and it ended up in the hands of Mohammed Ihattaren. He dribbled into the sixteen meters and scored with his left into the short corner. After this lead, PSV's play did not remain too good, creating a few more opportunities through Yorbe Vertessen and Nigel Thomas. But they did not get further than shots in the hands of the goalkeeper. PSV really needed to get out of the dressing room better to take a good result back to Eindhoven.
After halftime it was an immediate hit in the 46th minute; sloppy ball loss allowed Groningen to get to 1-1 very quickly. After this, the game went up and down, but there were no real chances for either team. Many duels were fought in midfield. This is exactly what the Groningers wanted. PSV had a good attack after more than an hour. Thomas played the ball to Ihattaren, but unfortunately his shot was turned into a corner. The match ended 1-1.
In my opinion, rightly so. Looking at the league table, this could be a very important point. PSV O19's next match is next Saturday at 1 p.m. against Feyenoord O19.
Formation PSV:
