The intentions with which NEC began the match were quickly clear. Move a man forward and put pressure with fast guys in front. PSV always plays attacking as well, and that means we are in for a nice match.
The first chances are for PSV. In the sixth minute, at the second chance for PSV, Thijs goes alone to the goalkeeper. The goalkeeper intercepted the ball very well, but Thijs fell unfortunately and had to be substituted immediately.
Beslan replaces him and he immediately shows that PSV has an excellent group where there are only guys on the bench because someone has to be there, but not because they are less talented.
Beslan first treats his opponent to a panna with a flick-tackle, and then he curls the ball towards the cross. The NEC goalkeeper is just barely able to stop this ball.
It takes until the tenth minute for PSV to take a 1-0 lead. Yorbe gets around the goalkeeper who can only stop him by bringing him down. The awarded penalty is exploited by Damian.
NEC can't quite live up to its intentions and lets itself sink a little further in, and PSV goes in search of the second goal.
It comes in the 29th minute, after a nice combination by PSV through the center which is finished off with a diagonal slide into the far corner.
The 3-0 falls a few minutes later. Mathijs passes the ball beautifully to Mo, who does not miss this opportunity and drives the ball into the ropes.
The second half produced few moments worth mentioning. PSV did not play a best second half and needed a fine save from Jurre in order not to get the goal very soon, which might have given NEC a big boost. That did not happen and neither PSV nor NEC could make things difficult for each other anymore.
The 3-0 halftime score was also the final score.

After the match, PSV received another unpleasant announcement. After examination in the hospital it appeared that Thijs broke his collarbone.
