  1. Match report

On the 1st day of October the o15 of PSV went to Vitesse. On the Papendal complex a battle awaited between two teams that after 3 rounds no longer had the 100% score in terms of points. But were firmly in the sub-top. Vitesse won comfortably at home against Fc Twente (5-2), won away at Feyenoord (1-2), but lost last weekend in Alkmaar against AZ (3-2). PSV was in 4th place, one place higher in the league table than the hosts. With 2 wins (1-2 at ADO Den Haag and 3-1 against AFC last weekend) and a draw in the goal-fest against Feyenoord (4-4), it had (for the quick arithmeticians...) one point more than the hosts.

The first chance of the match was for PSV. Fodé Fofana was sent into the depths on the left and passed well. His cross was almost tapped in by striker Jayden Braaf, then the rebound was shot by Amin Doudah onto the back of a Vitesse player.

PSV remained the better footballing team and in the 7th was again close to the opening goal. This time the Eindhoven team was dangerous from the right. However, Jeremy Antonisse's high cross was tapped away over Jayden's head by the tall Vitesse goalkeeper.

Especially through the flanks, PSV regularly came through well. It was unfortunate, however, that the continuation from there was not always good. The final pass or cross often just did not reach a fellow player. In the 17th minute Jayden was able to get away on the right. His cross towards the 5-meter line did not reach Fodé because the latter just stepped out to the penalty spot. Thus, PSV left the home team in the match. And almost got the lid on them in the 19th minute as well when Vitesse came through on their left and crossed hard. This time PSV was lucky that the striker just failed to run against the ball.

After 29 minutes of play, PSV had the chance for the 0-1. Another cross from Jeremy ended up with the incoming Fodé, but he just did not seem to get his passes right to score, so this opportunity was also lost.

Just before half time PSV finally rewarded themselves. A good pass from Amin went to Jayden in the 16. He deftly freed himself from his opponent and shot the ball hard and high into the goal: 0-1!

PSV continued to be the better team after the break. And doubled their lead in the 40th minute. This time it was captain Ian Maatsen who sent Jayden away with a beautiful pass. At speed the striker had a 1-on-1 with the goalkeeper and slid the ball into the far corner: 0-2.

Vitesse had to come out and started playing more opportunistically. However, the Eindhoven defense did not crack and again gave away hardly any chances. PSV themselves were given lots of space in front to seal the deal. But just like in the first half, Amin shot against the back of an Arnhem player in a promising position and a little later he looked for the goal too high.

Vitesse could only counter with a distance shot, a shot from an awkward angle at the outside post and a dangerous free kick. While in the 65th minute, PSV missed the chance for 0-3 when Jur Clabbers' cross did not reach 2 free teammates, but the goalkeeper's hands.

Nevertheless, the 0-3 still fell. Because in the last minute Kees van Lindert managed to score the third Eindhoven goal. With the ball at his feet, he steamed up from midfield. Jayden's run pulled a central defender away from the center, leaving a gaping hole where a Boeing could land. Kees cleverly and gratefully took advantage of Jayden's work and dove into the gap. Inside the penalty area a defender seemed to throw a spanner in the works, but this player was then sent completely into the woods by Kees with a hooded move that is still without a trace.....Kees then rounded off coolly in front of the goalkeeper alone and thus brought the final score on the scoreboard: 0-3.

A deserved victory in a game led by an excellent referee. Everyone present was in full agreement. Well played, good field play, operated as a team and defended with concentration, and finally kept 'the zero' again. Compliments!

After today there are 2 more away games on the agenda. Next week to Groningen for the cup. The week after from Heerenveen. Nice to make some miles!
