After last week's fine victory against Willem II, another topper is on the program today. Opponent today is the also unbeaten and no. 2 ranked team OJC Rosmalen. This opponent has not had to concede a goal in the previous matches, but has already lost a point with a draw against UNA. The match will be played on the beautiful accommodation of OJC Rosmalen, which many a club would envy. OJC's intentions are clear. Ball possession for PSV in the rear is allowed, but over the center line then fierce on the ball. PSV therefore struggles to reach forwards in the early stages. OJC's (physically) strongest players are also in the axis, making it difficult to get through via the middle. The first danger in the match came from the right side of the pitch. Joey sent Yassin deep, who passed the ball to Greg, who suddenly found himself face to face with the goalkeeper. However, the ball ends up in the hands of the goalkeeper. OJC's defence in the back is good, so there will not be many chances today. In the first half, there was one more opportunity when Greg shot from 16 meters and the ball went just wide. The level of last week is clearly not reached and the intensity of last week is also a bit lacking. So we go into halftime with the score on the glasses. In the initial phase after the break, PSV seems to combine better without really becoming dangerous. The opponent is rushed a bit faster so PSV gets possession of the ball faster. However, the pace today is probably due to the heat too low. Where normally the opponents have to chase the ball, this is limited by the low pace and lack of movement. The opponent often retreats and does not create much themselves, but defensively they are always well positioned. Still, there are chances in the second half. Arne opened well to Greg, who crossed to Yasin, but his header went over. A little later it was Koen who tried his luck from distance, but his shot also went just wide. Twelve minutes before time, the PSV supporters can still cheer. Yasin puts himself well in front of his opponent and is pulled down in the penalty area. The referee decisively points to the spot and Arne has already left to go get the ball. Arne also takes the penalty kick and brings PSV to a 1-0 lead. OJC has to start taking more risks and perhaps this will create more space. Yasin falls and has to leave the field with what appears to be a broken wrist. OJC becomes a little more cheeky but cannot really be dangerous, apart from a few corners. The height of the OJC players is longer than ours, and two corner kicks produce some hectic scenes. At one corner the ball is cleared off the line. On the counter-attack, Tijn set off towards goal with Arne in his wake. In front of the goalkeeper, Tijn crossed the ball as he should and Arne tapped it in. However, the OJC linesman flagged for offside and the goal was disallowed. Questionable but the linesman says he ran for it although I myself have the idea that Arne is smart enough to stay behind the ball. So it remains exciting until the last minute. PSV holds out though, although Edson intervenes well a few minutes before time before an opponent can become dangerous. PSV remains proudly in the lead with this 5th win in a row. Next week also knows an opponent not to be underestimated, Geldrop.
