    The report

The long hot summer is over, today for O17 we have a long bus ride to the far north ahead of us. After conquering the Super Cup, today we start the next mission and that is to make it to the championship pool and the ultimate goal, of course, the championship. But the first task is to take the three points from the north to Eindhoven. The drive is long as mentioned but the weather is still beautiful.

We started concentrated and the first chance is for Jeremy. This one did not go in, but two minutes later he was the one who paid attention when FC Groningen defended and he put the 0-1 on the scoreboard. We couldn't enjoy this lead for long, because within five minutes poor defensive play by our side was punished and Groningen managed to equalize the score with a nice overhead kick. Then a period follows in which the home team has the better chances. A ball on the bar and a missed opportunity in front of an open goal are not exploited by the hosts. So the break breaks with a somewhat fortunate 1-1 score.

After halftime we are a little better on our feet and soon we manage to score, but this party does not continue because the referee has found offside. The game is now undulating up and down, but we are the superior side. Some chances are missed, but we continue to have faith in them and keep up the pressure. And because we want to play the same style of play as the first, because that is the agreement, it is logical that the winning goal falls in injury time. As befits PSV. In the 83rd minute it is Mathijs who manages to get a cross before the back line and cross again and there is Manu present to sign the winning goal.

The first points are in and the bus trip home can begin. There is double celebration because trainer Martin also has his birthday today so the mood is great. To all the players who will be on the road with a national selection this coming weekend good luck and on to the next game.
