    The report

The first of September and immediately the first league match. And the first topper, because the O15 immediately went to Amsterdam to cross swords with Ajax. All this in a new league format, where the Eredivisie is formed by eight teams. Giving everything every weekend to take points.

The first quarter of the match favored Ajax. The Amsterdammers also created chances and opportunities in that phase. Sometimes they were helped by nonchalant defensive play on the PSV side, but fortunately the home team could not find the net. Halfway through the first half, the game became more balanced. Ajax had more ball possession, but PSV was also threatening from time to time. And even came close to scoring 0-1 when Sven Simons cut in a free kick and almost saw it curl in at the far post. Just before halftime, Chahid el Allachi sent the deep Iggy Houben away. But unfortunately an Ajax defender saved the ball with a slide.

The second half was even more balanced. Still Ajax had more ball possession, but PSV was the most dangerous. And even got to 0-1 in the 44th minute. A free kick from Sven ended up in the goal area, but the Ajax goalie punched the ball away and it landed at the feet of Jesper Uneken. Jesper took advantage of this opportunity and shot the opening goal in a controlled manner. A minute later it could have been 0-2. But Iggy was unable to reach Ruben van Bommel on the counter. In the 64th minute, PSV made it 0-2. After a beautiful pass from Lars Putters to Iggy, the latter sent two Ajax players into the woods on the back line. His wide pass ended up with Shi-jon Martina who eventually delivered the ball to Chahid el Allachi. His effort was too powerful for the Ajax goalkeeper, bringing the score to 0-2 with less than ten minutes to play. PSV did not get into any more trouble in that final phase. As a matter of fact, in the second half not a single chance was given away. The substitute Shi-jon demonstrated his individual qualities in the closing stages when he kept a handful of Ajax players busy in the center circle and eventually came out victorious. The entire team came out of the match victorious when the referee blew the final whistle. With a 0-2 result, the team boarded the bus with a great feeling. An excellent start to the league, therefore. Let's see if it can continue this next week in the home game against Volendam.
