You know those days when you get your hands on something beautiful and that beauty slowly slips from your fingers and at the end you have nothing. Today was such a day. And all under the eyes of PSV's former head coach.
The opponent Vitesse was eager and wanted to give us a hard time. The first chance was for Vitesse but Jorrit managed to prevent it. We lost a lot of ball in the beginning. But from the first good attack Alexander manages to put the ball into the corner from the edge of the 16 and so the 0 - 1 is on the scoreboard (which by the way was not there). Then Vitesse gets another chance but now it is Farshad who is able to intercept the ball before the line. Still we suffer a lot of ball loss, bad passes and the shots are not good either. Every time we take the tempo out of the game by not passing the ball properly. After 24 minutes there is another such moment and Vitesse can put the 1 - 1 on the (invisible) board. Then it's halftime. After halftime it is not much better. After an hour of play Riecedly is able to stop the ball in front of the goal but according to the referee he used his arm and so the ball goes to the spot and Riech to the side and behind the fence that is. 2 - 1. Now that we have ten players, chances are coming, and not small ones. But our sights are not right. One chance after another is wasted. And then you will always see that the opponent manages to find the net in an attempt to score. So too now and from a corner they put the 3 - 1 score on the still absent scoreboard.
The lesson to be learned from this game is that we are far from being there yet and that we will play many more of these games this season. So we will have to be careful. Because we will still have to get points. And after all, it's about points. It is still the case that at the end the one with the most points will be the champion. So an old Chinese saying goes: points don't shine they only count.
Next Friday at two o'clock Jong RKC is on the program.
Good luck.
