Strike just before halftime kills PSV B1
PSV B1 failed to continue the good run of the past two games in the home game against SC Heerenveen B1. At the Herdgang they lost, albeit somewhat unhappily, to the Frisians. PSV B1 had to lend some players to the A1, resulting in a young team. Nevertheless, PSV was not inferior to SC Heerenveen. The Frisians set up a few attacks on the right flank or through the middle, but these attacks were well defused by the PSV defense. In attack, PSV had a hard time, but the agile strikers Adilson and Josemar Makiavala tried to force the ball. The midfielders also came along well and were threatening at times. The game seemed to be heading for a 0-0 at halftime, but just before the whistle the Frisians took the lead. After halftime, PSV tried to push, but each time they encountered the Frisian defense. Marco Ospitalieri was perhaps the closest to scoring a goal when his free kick was only just cleared out of the crossbar by the goalkeeper. That it was an extreme effort was shown when the goalkeeper hit the post with his head and had to be treated for some time. In the closing stages, central defenders Dries Wuytens and Maikel Verkoelen were bombarded as extra attackers, but this too was to no avail. With the defeat, PSV seems to be losing the connection with the top of the standings. They are nine points behind leader Ajax.
