Head coach Roger Schmidt is already looking ahead barely 12 hours after the 0-0 draw against Leicester City. PSV plays RKC Waalwijk on Sunday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. and his team should not take that game lightly, Schmidt believes.
Charging
"We are going to recharge ourselves for Sunday's game. That's the big challenge after an intense game like yesterday's," Schmidt began his outlook. "Fortunately, we have gotten used to that this season. Some guys will have to recover from the efforts. We have a broad and strong group. Maybe that's why we are making some changes in the team. We will make sure we are ready."
Strength
The game against Leicester City took a lot of strength, according to Schmidt. "I am proud of the effort of my players. The intensity was high and the result good. At times we might have been able to get more out of the match. We sometimes missed the calm to put someone free in front of the goalkeeper. But all in all, for me there is little reason to complain about how we presented ourselves," Schmidt felt.
Fighting vanguard
Sunday, too, the coach expects a good attitude from his group, and it has to be. According to Schmidt, RKC is especially strong on the physical level. "It would be stupid to underestimate RKC Waalwijk. The team leans in the forwards on players who are physically very strong and like to duel with their opponents. Then they fight for the second ball. We will have to be pure with our ball possession. Actually like the game we played around Christmas," Schmidt refers to the 4-1 victory earlier this year against RKC Waalwijk.
