Locadia shoots with focus
Compared to Saturday's game, Phillip Cocu changed his squad for the cup match in three places. Remko Pasveer, Stijn Schaars and Jürgen Locadia replaced Jeroen Zoet, the suspended Davy Pröpper and Luciano Narsingh. Precisely the latter's replacement showed that choice was justified. In the sixteenth minute, Locadia was the most attentive of all the players in the SC Cambuur penalty area after a corner kick by Maxime Lestienne, before finishing via the inside of the post: 1-0. Not too much later, the same Locadia offered De Jong the chance to add to the score, but a Frisian leg blocked the PSV captain's attempt. On the half-hour mark, De Jong had another chance to double the score - this time on a Lestienne pass - but again his aim was not quite on target. Kai Heerings was also not sharp in the 43rd minute, because a cross from Santiago Arias disappeared into the goal via his leg and the Cambuur defender unintentionally signed for a comfortable 2-0 halftime score for PSV.

Double hit Ogbeche, De Jong decisive
PSV seemed to be heading for an easy evening. Even after halftime, Cocu's team had the better chances. Adam Maher appeared in a promising position in front of the Frisian goal and a Jorrit Hendrix ball was cleared just before the line. However, a double from Bartholomew Ogbeche brought SC Cambuur completely back into the game. First the striker tapped in after half-intervention by the PSV defense, and moments later Ogbeche used a penalty kick after hands from Schaars: 2-2. Directly after the equalizer, De Jong could have put PSV ahead again with his head, but in the counterattack PSV had to be careful that Cambuur did not take the lead. Thanks to Pasveer's intervention that did not happen and after De Jong had put PSV ahead again from the spot, the resistance of the Frisians was broken.
