Hoofdcoach Roger Schmidt zag zijn ploeg de eerste Eredivisiewedstrijd van het seizoen winnen, en de zesde wedstrijd op rij. Een mooie reeks voor PSV.
Artificial turf pitch
“It was a good game of football. The opening match is always a special one”, said Schmidt, speaking to the media after the game. “It took us some time to get going on the artificial turf pitch but after some time we found our rhythm. Three points, several players rested, substitutes who did well, playing our own style of football. There are plenty of positives to take from this game.”
Goalkeepers
Joël Drommel was the first-choice goalkeeper in the first few games of the new season. Drommel was rested and Yvon Mvogo took his place between the sticks. It was a tactical decision, explained Schmidt: “We have two fine goalkeepers. Joël has put on some commanding displays. Yvon is also doing well, in training, and he will be pleased to have 90 minutes under his belt. Joël must get used to playing three games a week and he has also been called up to the Netherlands squad. We are lucky to have two fine goalkeepers in our squad.”
