Both Phillip Cocu and Henk de Jong spoke of a deserved 1-2 victory for PSV after Cambuur-PSV.
Reaction Phillip Cocu after win in Leeuwarden
"We wanted to start sharp and aggressive and put high and fast pressure," Cocu said at the press conference. "That went very well, despite Cambuur having the ability to play through our defense several times. After that we had more initiative and after the 0-1 we deliberately put little pressure. Cambuur had a lot of trouble with that. The conversion gave us 0-2, which was decisive I think. Too bad we got the 1-2 because of an unnecessary foul. It was a good team reaction to the cup elimination. De Jong's injury is not that bad. He has some stitches in and that's it. He was already smiling again in the dressing room," Cocu concluded.
Henk de Jong compliments namesake
SC Cambuur coach De Jong was clear about where his team missed out. "Chances you get, you have to take advantage of them. And I am certainly referring to Bartholomew Ogbeche. We didn't make them and they did. After the 0-1, PSV closed it down very well. It is a justified defeat. We have to get ahead once against a team like that, then they will have a hard time. Now they come in a seat. And what a team player is that Luuk de Jong. That's really my man at PSV. He plays very smart and puts the ball down well every time. That was enjoyable. He is very important for PSV," De Jong said.
